Etiquette in the supplication of Nabi Ayyub alayhissalaam

من لطائف الأدب في نداء أيوب لربه أنه لم يسأله شيئًا معينًا كالشفاء أو العافية أو إعادة الأهل إليه؛ إنما اكتفى بأن ذكر نفسه بالحاجة والضعف وذكر ربه بما هو أهله، ولم يزد على ذلك شيئًا: {وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ}

A lesson to learn from the etiquette in the supplication of Nabi Ayyub AlayhisSalaam when He called unto his Rabb.

He did not ask for a specific thing like cure from illness, safety or return of his family. He sufficed on mentioning his neediness and incapability and exalted the lofty status of his Rabb. This was sufficient for his Rabb to bestow him with his mercy, remove his affliction and return his family to him as is mentioned in the Glorious Quran Surah Ambiyaa – Aayah 83 & 84

And [mention] Ayyub, when he called to his Lord, “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah ].
