Authentic Narrations and Virtues about The Mother of the believers – Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid (May Allah be pleased with Her)

download (23)1. The best of the women of this Ummah

Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (SallalahuAlayhiWaSallam) saying: “Maryam the daughter of Imraan was the best among the women (of the world in her time) and Khadijah is the best amongst the women (of this nation).” (Sahih Al Bukhaari)

2. She held a special place in the Heart of Rasoolulllah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam)

Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid (Radiyallahu Anha) always held a special place in the heart of Allah’s Messenger (SallalahuAlayhiWaSallam) even though He married several more wives in the later years. Her death left a special place in His heart that none other could fill.

3. A pillar of strength for the best of mankind

After receiving the first revelation, the Prophet of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) was clearly shaken. He sought refuge in the secure and safe world of Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) who immediately uttered words that relieved all his sorrows and pain: “Allah will never forsake You, You maintain ties and always speak the truth.” (Bukhari). Through every outrage and persecution of the people of Makkah, Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) was his dearest companion and helper.

4. A forerunner in faith

Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) was the first to hear the message of Allah. At such a crucial time, she was not going to leave the Best of Humanity alone. She immediately declared her faith in him and all that was revealed to him.

5. How the Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) described her worth

The Prophet (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) would mention Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha’s) name at every opportunity talking of her virtues to whoever He saw. Once Aaishah (Radiyallahu Anha) enquired from the Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) about Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) to which He replied: “She believed in me when no one else did, she accepted Islam when people rejected me and she helped and comforted me when there was no other helping hand.”

6. She bore the children of the Best of Mankind

In the words of the Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) himself who said: “….she supported me from her property and Allah gave me children through her.”

7. Allah’s Messenger (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) loved who she loved

The Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) would never forget her loved ones. He would often slaughter a sheep and send portions of it to the friends of His beloved, Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha)

8. The Prophet (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) became emotional on seeing her necklace after her passing

Once the Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) saw a necklace of His beloved, Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) which she had gifted to her daughter Zainab (Radiyallahu Anha) on her marriage. He became sentimental and emotional as this took Him back to the blessed times spent with Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) in Makkah.

9. A woman of lofty status by Allah 

Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) lived a legendary life. She was one of the heroes in the first days of Islam. None can match her nobility of spirit, generosity and beneficence. Allah chose her to be at the side of the blessed Prophet (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) in his most difficult days.

10. A house of pearl in paradise

Abu Hurairah (Radiyallahu Anhu) narrates that on one occasion when Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) was still alive, Angel Jibra’eel (Alayhis Salam) came to the Prophet (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, Khadijah is coming to you with a bowl of soup. When she comes to you give her greetings from her Lord and from me and give her the glad tidings of a palace of pearl in paradise, where there will be no noise or tiredness.” (Some interpret this to be a reward for the calm and tranquil environment that she afforded to the Messenger of Allah (SallallahuAlayhiWaSallam))

May Almighty Allah unite us with the Mother of Believers, Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) in Jannah.
